Good To Know

Coronavirus Safety

We can't wait to welcome you back! Our staff and visitor's safety is very important to us. Below are some of the measures taken to make your experience safe and fun. We're Good to Go and have achieved the industry standard seal of approval for complying with Coronavirus guidelines.

From Saturday 1st August we’re reopening the Museum. Here's what you need to know before you visit.

Book a timed ticket in advance

We’re allowing fewer visitors than usual so you can easily keep a distance from other people and enjoy a relaxed, uncrowded visit.  Guarantee your visit and make your arrival quicker and safer by booking your tickets in advance through our website.

Groups

You may visit as a small group/family if you all live together and a maximum of 2 households can visit in their social bubble.

On arrival

Our entrance is at the Pier Head (river) side of the Cunard Building.  You may be asked to join a queue before entering.  Our crew will help you with any questions when you arrive.

Pay with card

We only accept card or contactless payments in the museum. There will be protective screens in place at all desks to make sure all payments are made safely.

Extra cleaning

Hand sanitising stations are available in key areas, along with antibacterial wipes to use before using an audio guide or touching our interactive displays.  There will be increased cleaning in toilets and other high use areas such as interactive zones, door handles and rails.

Face covering

We encourage you to wear a face covering during your visit.

Storing your belongings

To reduce touchpoints, we’re unable to offer a cloakroom service at the moment, so please leave any big bags at home.  Prams and buggies are welcome inside the museum.

One-way routes

One-way routes are in place throughout the museum. Our large open galleries mean that it is easy to find your own personal space.

The Gibson Studio

We will be lowering the numbers of guests inside the studio at any one time, to allow for social distancing.  The vocal booth will remain closed for the time being.  Disinfectant wipes will be provided for playing the instruments with regular cleaning provided by crew.  Our crew will be on hand to answer any questions.

Audio guides

We will continue to offer Audio Guides to enhance your experience, but you will need to bring your own headphones or listen without.

Café

Our café will only be taking card and contactless payments.  There will be a clear one-way system in and out.  To start with, we will offer takeaway only and we will be using disposable cups.  There is some outdoor seating if the weather is fine.

Shop

Our shop will only be taking card and contactless payments.  We will be limiting the amount of people inside at any one time, so you may be asked to wait a small while before entering.  We ask that you don’t try on any clothing and only touch items you intend to buy.

If you’re feeling unwell

Please stay home if you have any Covid-19 symptoms (these are listed on the NHS website) or if you’ve recently been in contact with someone who has Covid-19. If you are unable to use your tickets because you are unwell, please contact us to arrange a ticket swap.

We understand that not everyone will want to return to cultural venues immediately but for those that do, we appreciate your support and hope you enjoy the show.
